Road Trip Play List West Virginia

Road Trip Play List: Stickshifts and Safetybelts

Road trip Play List! Sometimes I like to share my favorite songs to drive to. You know those songs, the ones that make you crank up the volume, crank down the windows, and sing at the top of your lungs on the highways and rural byways. Today’s road trip play list song is Stickshifts and Safetybelts by Cake.

I first heard Cake’s Stickshifts and Safetybelts in my friend’s car as we were driving from Chicago to West Virginia on a camping/white water rafting trip. It was part of his own personal CD (this was before mp3 players were popular) of “songs about driving.” And It’s way too catchy.

Bonus attraction: the New River Gorge Bridge in Fayetteville, West Virginia, which, at the time, was the world’s longest steel single-span arch bridge.
