Woodland Park Zoo: Elephants

Elephants

Baby Elephant bronze sculpture by Lon Brusselback (1989), located near elephant barn in the Elephant Forest exhibit.

A tribute to Hansa, an Asian elephant who died at just six and a half years old. The blue boomer ball was her favorite toy and was placed in the elephant park to help zoo-goers remember her playful spirit.

Pink Elephant in Fenton Missouri

When you road trip the country in search of weird roadside attractions one thing is inevitable: you will find reoccurring themes. Case in point, the pink elephant. Why the giant pink elephant is so popular, I can’t say, but you can find this familiar roadside beacon in many, many places throughout the United States. I’ve blogged before about the pink elephant in DeForest, Wisconsin, and about the pink elephant in Livingston, Illinois.

Today I bring you the large pink elephant statue from Fenton, Missouri! This guy is sitting outside of a gas station and, while checking it out, the attendant told me and my friend to feel free to climb it…in theory, I would totally climb a giant pink elephant, but I couldn’t figure out a way to do so and it seemed a little too unstable to feel quite safe…

Location: 2599 S Old Highway 141, Fenton, MO
