Flopsy’s Day Off

I had a hard decision to make when I left on my ’round the world trip. Do I take my beloved jackalope, and Silly America’s mascot, Flopsy? Or, do I leave him behind?

In the end I decided that Flopsy would be better off at home. On road trips he mostly stays in the car except to come out to see roadside attractions and the like. But traveling through Europe he’d have to endure time in my backpack and numerous hostels and trains and planes and buses. The risk of him getting lost was just too high. And, besides, he’d have to spend a heck of lot of time in quarantine to even be allowed into some of these countries!

So, alas, I left poor Flopsy behind. He’s been doing fine, keeping busy with his friend Goat the monkey. They invented a game called “play with this piece of green string.” But Goat is a homebody, and Flopsy likes to see America.

So sometimes when the cat is away the Jackalope will play, and Flopsy took off this weekend for a road trip to Milwaukee. And boy did he have a good time…

Portrait Session with Flopsy the Jackalope

I had the opportunity last week to do a little portrait session with the five kinds of lighting. So I decided to bring Flopsy, our Jackalope mascot, out to model. He had lots of fun, so I thought I’d share today his portrait session photos!

ROAD SIGN BINGO

Road sign Bingo is a true classic! Print up these four different cards and look for the signs as you drive! As you see them, check them off on your card. There are many variations. You can play classic Bingo and see who gets a line horizontally, vertically, or diagonally first. Or for longer drives you can see who can spot signs the quickest and fill up their card first!

Click on the thumbnails below to download the four different Road Sign Bingo cards.
They will open in a separate window as PDFs.

I met Flopsy’s cousin in Seattle…

OK, I lied. I am not back to my regular blogging today. Give me one more day and I promise you will get bombarded with awesome photos and awesome info on awesome roadside attractions and eating contests and more!

In the mean time, I do want to offer an apolgy to my dear mascot Flopsy who unfortunately could not make the trip with me. I was sad to leave him behind. I did manage to visit one of his cousin’s though!
