My favorite travel companion and Silly America mascot Flopsy the Jackalope joined me on the road trip to Metropolis. He wanted to share some of the fun he had in Superman Square!

Whew, am I exhausted! Saturday I drove from Chicago to Metropolis, IL and (almost) back. Stay tuned this week for a recap of my road trip and more! For now, here’s a pic I took just before hitting the gas pedal. Flopsy in his cave, a can of Coke in the cup holder, and my Garmin raring to go…

Meet Flopsy!

Flopsy hopped into my life (and my car) at Wall Drug and has become my new travel pal (and my new Silly America mascot)!
Flopsy is a Jackalope, a cross between a jackrabbit and an antelope, and one of the rarest animals in the land. Although you don’t see them about very often, if you are lucky you will spot one in Wall Drug, where they seem to thrive. Even luckier are you if one of them decides to let you adopt him! Especially as they are known as being very shy creatures.
Flopsy made himself a home in what used to be the cell phone holder in my car, but now is to be known as the Flopsy cave. From there he will be my travel buddy on upcoming adventures around the country, and he tells me that he can’t wait!
